Three teams have already been eliminated from the race for the IPL 2025 playoffs—Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, and now Sunrisers Hyderabad. Currently, 7 teams are competing for the 4 playoff spots, but out of these 7, two teams are in serious danger of being knocked out. Eventually, three teams will have to miss out, as only the top 4 qualify for the Eliminator and Qualifier matches.
The two teams most at risk of missing the playoffs are Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). LSG can reach a maximum of 16 points and KKR can go up to 17, but even these totals may fall short this season. That’s because the current top 5 teams can each secure 19 or more points. If they manage to reach 18 or more, LSG and KKR could be eliminated.
Delhi Capitals also face a tough path ahead. Although they have 13 points from 11 matches, their next three games are against top-performing teams—Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans, and Mumbai Indians. If Delhi loses even one of these matches, qualifying for the playoffs will become extremely difficult, as they will only be able to reach 17 points at most.

On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are in the best position to qualify first. They need just one more win to secure a playoff spot, with 16 points already in hand. Punjab Kings are also close to securing qualification, needing only one more win to reach 17 points, as they currently stand at 15.
