The Champions Trophy concluded with India securing the title. In the final, India defeated New Zealand by four wickets, claiming the trophy for the third time. The 2025 Champions Trophy was held under a hybrid model. While Pakistan was officially the host, the Indian team played all its matches in Dubai. As the host nation, Pakistan had a disappointing tournament, getting eliminated in the group stage. The disappointment for Pakistan increased when the final match was moved from Lahore to Dubai. This decision was made earlier through an agreement between both cricket boards, stating that if India reached the final, the match would take place in Dubai instead of Lahore.
Pakistan Gears Up for Another ICC Tournament
After the Champions Trophy, Pakistan is now preparing to host another major ICC event. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that the country will host the ICC Women’s ODI Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2025, featuring six teams. PCB is currently in discussions with ICC regarding the tournament’s schedule and venues. The six participating teams are Pakistan, Scotland, Ireland, Bangladesh, Thailand, and West Indies. According to PCB, matches are likely to be held in Karachi, Multan, and Faisalabad since the 10th season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2025) is also scheduled to begin on April 11.
