Akash Deep stepped in for the injured Shivam Mavi in India’s squad for the 2022 Asian Games. Later, in November 2023, he was named as an injury replacement for Deepak Chahar in India’s ODI squad for the series against South Africa in South Africa, although he didn’t feature in any matches.
In February 2024, he earned his maiden test callup for the final three Tests of the home series against England. Notably, he received this news while actively competing in the 2023–24 Ranji Trophy representing Bengal.
