Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who have suffered three consecutive defeats at their home ground, will now face a tough challenge against Delhi Capitals in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) on Saturday.
The defending champions, RCB, started their campaign with two wins in Vadodara. However, as the tournament moved into its second phase at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, their performance took an unexpected downturn, resulting in three consecutive losses. One of these defeats came in a Super Over against UP Warriorz. The third phase of the tournament will now be played in Lucknow.
RCB currently holds the third position in the points table and will be eager to secure a win against Delhi Capitals. However, it will be a challenge for Delhi Capitals as well, as they will be playing back-to-back matches—first against Mumbai Indians on Friday and then against RCB the very next day.
RCB’s bowling has also appeared weak, with their two key pacers, Renuka Singh and Kim Garth, struggling to deliver consistent performances. Both bowlers have been unable to maintain control over their line and length.
On the other hand, Delhi Capitals have strengthened their batting with Shafali Varma and Jess Jonassen regaining form. However, captain Meg Lanning has been struggling to score runs. Jemimah Rodrigues and Annabel Sutherland have shown glimpses of good form but have lacked consistency.
Delhi Capitals boast a strong bowling attack with the presence of Shikha Pandey, Marizanne Kapp, young Titas Sadhu, Sutherland, and Minnu Mani, making them a formidable challenge for RCB.
BLR-W vs DEL-W Today Match Pitch Report- M Chinnaswamy Stadium
A high-scoring contest is expected at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, given its reputation as a batting-friendly venue. In such conditions, both teams might prefer to bowl first after winning the toss, aiming to take advantage of any early movement and restrict the opposition.
The team batting first will need to target a score of around 175 runs to create pressure on the chasing side. Given the short boundaries and flat pitch, anything less might not be enough, as teams have successfully chased down big totals at this venue in the past. The bowlers will have to execute their plans precisely to contain the opposition, especially in the death overs, where runs tend to flow quickly.
