Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has been appointed as India’s next head coach, replacing Rahul Dravid. Gambhir, who served as mentor for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2024, will now step down from this position.
Gambhir previously led KKR both as captain and mentor, guiding them to success, including three championships. His absence will pose a challenge for the team, as acknowledged by Kolkata’s head coach Chandrakant Pandit, marking a transitional period for KKR and potentially impacting the Indian team as well.

Gambhir’s extensive coaching experience has positioned him as a frontrunner for the role of India’s head coach, which he officially assumed on Tuesday. Pandit played a pivotal role in KKR’s triumph and has one more year remaining on his contract with the franchise.
