Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is on the verge of achieving a major milestone during the upcoming five-match Test series against England. The young left-hander has a chance to surpass legends like Virender Sehwag and Rahul Dravid in the list of fastest Indians to reach 2000 Test runs.
Opportunity to Become Fastest Indian to 2000 Test Runs
The first Test between India and England begins on June 20. Ahead of the series, Jaiswal played for India A in an unofficial match against England Lions. So far, he has scored 1798 runs in 36 innings of 19 Test matches at an impressive average of 52.88, including 4 centuries and 10 fifties.

If Yashasvi scores 202 runs in his next three innings, he will become the fastest Indian to reach 2000 Test runs, surpassing Sehwag and Dravid, who both took 40 innings to achieve the feat. This puts Jaiswal in a strong position to break into elite company.
A Tough Challenge Awaits in English Conditions
However, batting in English conditions known for swing and seam movement won’t be easy. Jaiswal had a modest start to the tour, managing only one fifty in four innings against England Lions. Still, he has shown promise overseas, especially during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, where he scored 391 runs in 10 innings at an average of 43.44, including one century and two fifties.
