Shardul Thakur, born on 16 October 1991, entered the cricket scene with his selection in India’s Test squad for the West Indies tour in 2016. Although he didn’t play, his journey unfolded with milestones like his ODI debut against Sri Lanka on 31 August 2017.

The controversy surrounding his choice of the number 10 jersey, following Sachin Tendulkar, led to Thakur switching to 54. He made his T20I debut against South Africa in February 2018.

Thakur’s impactful performances include the 2018 Nidahas Trophy, where he earned the Man of the Match award for a stellar 4-27 against Sri Lanka. His Test debut against the West Indies in October 2018 was cut short due to injury.

In the 2021 England tour, he showcased his all-round prowess, notably with a quick half-century and crucial wickets at the Oval. Thakur’s remarkable contributions earned praise, transforming from a journeyman bowler to a vital asset.
