Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have announced the appointment of Omkar Salvi as their new bowling coach ahead of the IPL 2025 season. Salvi, who guided Mumbai to Ranji Trophy and Irani Trophy victories last season, is a prominent figure in domestic cricket. He previously served as an assistant coach with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

RCB shared the news via Twitter, stating, “Omkar Salvi, current Head Coach of Mumbai, has been appointed as RCB’s Bowling Coach. Omkar, who has won the Ranji Trophy, Irani Trophy, and the IPL in the last eight months, is excited to join us in time for #IPL2025 after completing his Indian domestic season duties.”

Salvi will officially join RCB after the conclusion of the ongoing Ranji Trophy season, which resumes on January 23. Meanwhile, he will oversee Mumbai’s campaign in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament.

The younger brother of former India cricketer Avishkar Salvi, Omkar has limited playing experience, featuring in just one List-A match for Railways in 2005. He is contracted with the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) until March 2025.

This marks Salvi’s second IPL coaching stint after his tenure with KKR. RCB, despite being part of the IPL since its inception in 2008, are still chasing their elusive first title.
