All 10 teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 have played their first match of the season. Out of these, five teams have secured victories: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Delhi Capitals (DC), and Punjab Kings (PBKS).
In the fifth league match of the season, Punjab Kings defeated Gujarat Titans in a high-scoring game. With this win, PBKS climbed to the third position in the points table, pushing CSK and DC down the rankings. Before this match, CSK was at third place but has now moved to fourth, while DC, previously fourth, has dropped to fifth after the PBKS vs GT match.
At the top of the table, Sunrisers Hyderabad holds the first position due to their superior net run rate (NRR) of +2.200. RCB follows closely behind in second place with an NRR of +2.137.
Among the bottom five, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) is in sixth place after suffering a one-wicket loss. Mumbai Indians (MI) stands at seventh, having lost a close match to CSK. Gujarat Titans (GT) is in eighth position after a 11-run loss to PBKS. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is ninth, having suffered a crushing defeat against RCB in their first match. Rajasthan Royals (RR) sits at the bottom, as they were heavily beaten by SRH in a high-scoring game.
