The 29th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will be played on Sunday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. In this exciting contest, Delhi Capitals will face off against Mumbai Indians. This will be the first match of the season to be played at this venue. Last season, the pitch in Delhi offered plenty of runs, making it a paradise for batsmen. However, it remains to be seen whether the surface will behave similarly this time.
Arun Jaitley Stadium Pitch Report
Traditionally, the pitch at the Arun Jaitley Stadium was known to be slow with low bounce, making scoring difficult for batters. However, ahead of the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup, the pitch underwent significant changes. Since then, it has become more favourable for batsmen, leading to many high-scoring encounters.
So far, 90 IPL matches have been played at this venue. Teams batting first have won 43 of them, while teams chasing have claimed victory in 46 matches. The pitch tends to remain consistent for both innings, but dew in the second innings can make it tough for bowlers. Therefore, the team winning the toss is likely to opt for batting first.
Last season, Sunrisers Hyderabad scored a massive 266 runs against Delhi Capitals on this ground, which remains the highest total at the venue. The average first innings score here is around 170.
