Jaiswal, born on December 28, 2001, in Suriyawan, Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, is the fourth of six children to Bhupendra Jaiswal, a small hardware store owner, and Kanchan Jaiswal, a housewife. At ten, he moved to Mumbai for cricket training at Azad Maidan, initially staying in a dairy shop for work but later living in a tent with groundsmen, selling panipuri for sustenance. In December 2013, Jwala Singh, running a cricket academy in Santacruz, recognized Jaiswal’s potential, offering him a place to stay and eventually becoming his legal guardian with power of attorney.
In 2015, Jaiswal gained recognition with a remarkable all-round performance in a Giles Shield match, scoring 319 not out and taking 13/99, setting a schools cricket record in India. He progressed to represent Mumbai under-16 and later the India national under-19 cricket team. Notably, he excelled in the 2018 Under-19 Asia Cup, being the tournament’s highest run-scorer.
