Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the IND vs ENG 2nd Test, after sustaining a hamstring injury during India’s pursuit of a 231-run target in the first Test against England in Hyderabad. His absence creates a significant void in the Indian cricket team’s lineup, presenting a challenge for captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid to address.
While the extent of Jadeja’s injury is yet to be officially confirmed, the left-arm all-rounder has commenced his recovery journey under the guidance of VVS Laxman at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
Jadeja shared the news of his recovery destination by posting a status on his Instagram account featuring the NCA logo, accompanied by the caption, “Home for the next few days.”

In response to Jadeja’s unavailability, the team management has opted for a like-for-like replacement by adding left-arm orthodox spinner Saurabh Kumar to the squad for the second Test in Vizag. Saurabh Kumar, known for his spin-bowling skills and proficiency as a batter, mirrors Jadeja’s dual capabilities.
However, the replacement options do not end with Saurabh Kumar. The squad has also been bolstered by the inclusion of another all-rounder, Washington Sundar, in the absence of the world’s No. 1 Test all-rounder. Sundar, a left-handed batter with valuable off-spin skills, provides a versatile option to contribute both with the bat and ball.
The team management faces a strategic decision in choosing between the like-for-like option in Saurabh Kumar, the spin-bowling all-rounder Sundar, or exploring the left-arm wrist-spinning abilities of Kuldeep Yadav, enhancing India’s bowling capabilities.
