BCCI to Reintroduce Old Rule in IPL; CSK May Retain Dhoni for IPL 2025 at This Much Crore!

Must read

The big question is whether MS Dhoni will play in IPL 2025 as an uncapped player. With the IPL 2025 auction approaching, there are speculations about whether Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will retain their most successful captain.

Dhoni could be retained for ₹4 crores

Recently, a meeting took place between the BCCI and IPL franchise owners where various issues were discussed. During the meeting, CSK requested the BCCI to reintroduce an old rule. According to this rule, if a player has retired from international cricket and it’s been five years or more, they would be considered an uncapped player. At that time, the BCCI did not give a clear response. However, according to a report by News18, the rule might be reintroduced for IPL 2025. If that happens, MS Dhoni would fall into the uncapped player category, making it easier for CSK to retain him.

If BCCI implements this rule in IPL 2025, it would be easier for CSK to retain Dhoni, possibly for ₹4 crores. A BCCI source mentioned that there’s a strong possibility of reintroducing this old rule. It has been discussed, and details will be provided when the players’ regulations are announced. On the other hand, if CSK retains Dhoni for ₹4 crores, the team’s purse would increase, as Dhoni was retained for ₹11 crores until IPL 2024.
