Sunrisers Hyderabad’s fast bowler Harshal Patel has etched his name in the IPL record books by achieving a major milestone. Harshal has now gone past Jasprit Bumrah and has become the Indian pacer with the most four-wicket hauls in IPL history.
On Friday, April 25, Harshal Patel picked up four wickets against Chennai Super Kings at their home ground. His brilliant spell also included the prized wicket of CSK captain MS Dhoni. Thanks to his impressive performance, Sunrisers Hyderabad secured their third win of the season.
As soon as he claimed his fourth wicket in the match, Harshal became the first Indian pacer to take five four-wicket hauls in IPL history. Before him, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Lakshmipathy Balaji, and Mohit Sharma had all taken four four-wicket hauls. Harshal went one step further with his fifth.
In this match, Harshal bowled 4 overs, conceded just 28 runs, and took 4 wickets with an economy rate of 7. His impactful bowling earned him the Player of the Match award.

Interestingly, this was the fifth time Harshal Patel was named Player of the Match in the IPL — and out of these, three awards have come against Chennai Super Kings, making him somewhat of a nemesis for CSK. The other two awards came in matches against Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals. He has now dismissed MS Dhoni three times in the IPL, including in this match where he got him out with a cut shot.
