India vs England 2nd Test Probable Playing XI: Patidar, Sarfaraz, Sundar IN; Gill OUT

After a dramatic first Test at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad, where India faced defeat by 28 runs, the caravan now moves to the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam for the second Test. With the series at a crucial juncture, both teams are gearing up for what promises to be another intense battle. Here’s a look at India’s predicted playing XI for the second Test.

    Ravindra JadejaIndia Test England

Ahead of the second Test, India faces the challenge of dealing with injuries to two key players. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is sidelined with a hamstring injury, while middle-order batter KL Rahul is nursing a right quadriceps issue. The absence of these two players has prompted the team management to make strategic changes in the playing XI, introducing fresh faces to the squad.

Here’s India vs England 2nd Test Probable Playing 11:

    1. Rohit Sharma (c)

The Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma, expressed disappointment with the team’s batting performance in the second innings of the first Test. Rohit will be eager to lead from the front and put up a solid show in Visakhapatnam.

    2. Yashasvi Jaiswal

The left-handed opener showcased his brilliance with a stunning half-century in the first innings of the first Test. However, his second-innings dismissal raised eyebrows. Jaiswal will be aiming for consistency and a substantial score in the second Test.

    3. Rajat Patidar

Selected as Virat Kohli’s replacement, Patidar is seen as a vital asset in the number four position. His recent performances, including back-to-back centuries against the England Lions, underline his form and capability. Patidar’s domestic success positions him as a strong contender for Gill’s spot.

    4. Shreyas Iyer

With KL Rahul ruled out, Shreyas Iyer is likely to take the number four slot in the batting order. Iyer showed promise in the first innings of the Hyderabad Test, and the team will be counting on him for stability in the middle order.

    5. Sarfaraz Khan

A consistent performer in First-Class cricket, Sarfaraz Khan earned his maiden India call-up. Recent impressive knocks, including a century against the England Lions, make him a potential replacement for Rahul in the middle order.

    6. KS Bharat (wk)

Wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat, who excelled with the bat in the second innings of the first Test, will retain his place in the playing XI. Bharat’s contribution behind the wickets and with the bat is crucial for India.

    7. Ravi Ashwin

The ace off-spinner is on the verge of a historic milestone, aiming to complete 500 Test wickets. Ashwin’s six-wicket haul in the first Test showcased his match-winning abilities, and he will play a pivotal role in the spin department.

    8. Axar Patel

With Ravindra Jadeja absent, Axar Patel assumes a more significant role in the spin attack. Promoted up the order, Axar will look to build crucial partnerships with Ashwin and contribute with both bat and ball.

    9. Washington Sundar

Drafted in as Jadeja’s replacement, Washington Sundar provides a like-for-like option. His all-around skills make him a valuable asset, and his return to the Test XI after three years adds intrigue to the lineup.

    10. Jasprit Bumrah

The leader of the pace attack, Bumrah, had a notable performance in the second innings of the first Test. India will rely on Bumrah’s pace and skill to make an impact against the English batting lineup.

    11. Mohammed Siraj

Despite a subpar performance in the first Test, Siraj retains his spot in the playing XI. The team management will expect him to bounce back and replicate the success he had in Cape Town.
