Several prominent players, including Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul, who were not retained by their respective teams—Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)—have set their base price at ₹2 crore for the IPL 2025 mega auction. Other high-profile Indian cricketers, such as Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal (both released by Rajasthan Royals), have also listed ₹2 crore as their base price.
Mohammed Shami, who hasn’t played competitive cricket since the 2023 ODI World Cup final, has been released by Gujarat Titans and has opted for a ₹2 crore base price. Other notable Indian players with the same base price include Mohammed Siraj, Ishan Kishan, Deepak Chahar, Venkatesh Iyer, Avesh Khan, Mukesh Kumar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Prasidh Krishna, T Natarajan, Devdutt Padikkal, Krunal Pandya, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Khaleel Ahmed, and Umesh Yadav. Meanwhile, Umran Malik, known for his express pace in IPL 2022, will be available for a starting price of ₹75 lakh.
Australia pacer Mitchell Starc, who was bought by KKR for a record ₹24.50 crore last year, has also set his base price at ₹2 crore for the 2025 auction. Other overseas stars, including Steve Smith, Jofra Archer, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Nathan Lyon, Mitchell Marsh, Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, Adam Zampa, Moeen Ali, Harry Brook, Sam Curran, Trent Boult, Matt Henry, Kane Williamson, and Kagiso Rabada, have all listed their base price at ₹2 crore. Notably, David Warner, who has retired from international cricket, has also set his base price at ₹2 crore, while New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra has listed ₹1.50 crore after being released by Chennai Super Kings. Joe Root has opted out of the auction.
In a notable absence, England’s Test captain Ben Stokes is missing from the list of 1574 registered players. However, veteran pacer James Anderson, who recently retired from international cricket, has registered for the auction at ₹1.25 crore. Anderson, who has never played in the IPL, last featured in a T20I for England in 2014.

The auction also includes Thomas Draca, a fast bowler from Italy, who was recently signed by MI Emirates for the ILT20 in the UAE. Draca is placed at slot 325 in the auction list.
The IPL governing council will finalize the list after receiving inputs from all ten franchises. The IPL 2025 mega auction will take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25. Each franchise can sign up to 25 players, with 204 available slots after 46 players were retained from the previous season. The total purse for each team is ₹120 crore, with Punjab Kings holding the largest purse at ₹110.50 crore, followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore (₹83 crore), Delhi Capitals (₹73 crore), Gujarat Titans (₹69 crore), Lucknow Super Giants (₹69 crore), Chennai Super Kings (₹55 crore), Kolkata Knight Riders (₹51 crore), Mumbai Indians (₹45 crore), Sunrisers Hyderabad (₹45 crore), and Rajasthan Royals (₹41 crore).
