Noor Ahmad - MS Dhoni, IPL 2025

The IPL 2025 season has already witnessed some exceptional bowling performances, with several bowlers making a strong impact in the race for the Purple Cap. Leading the wicket-takers list is Chennai Super Kings’ Noor Ahmad, who has taken 9 wickets in 3 matches at an outstanding average of 9.11 and an economy of 6.83. His best figures of 4/18 highlight his effectiveness in the tournament so far. Right behind him is Delhi Capitals’ Mitchell Starc, who has picked up 8 wickets in just 2 matches. His best figures of 5/35 make him one of the most dangerous bowlers this season, although his economy of 10.04 suggests he has been slightly expensive.

Lucknow Super Giants’ Shardul Thakur has also been impressive, taking 6 wickets in 3 matches with best figures of 4/34. However, his economy of 10.22 suggests he has conceded runs while picking wickets. CSK’s Khaleel Ahmed has also taken 6 wickets in 3 matches, maintaining a better economy of 7.91 with best figures of 3/29. Delhi Capitals’ Kuldeep Yadav has been effective in his 2 matches, taking 5 wickets at an excellent average of 8.40 and an economy of just 5.25, making him a key asset for his team.

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Josh Hazlewood has been equally impactful, also claiming 5 wickets in 2 matches at an average of 8.60 and an economy of 5.37. Rajasthan Royals’ Wanindu Hasaranga has also taken 5 wickets in 2 matches, with a best of 4/35, though his economy of 9.85 shows he has leaked some runs. Punjab Kings’ Arshdeep Singh has taken 5 wickets in 2 matches with an economy of 9.87, proving to be a crucial bowler for his team.

Lucknow Super Giants’ DS Rathi has bagged 5 wickets in 3 matches but has an economy of 8.41, slightly higher than other leading wicket-takers. Mumbai Indians’ Ashwani Kumar has had a brilliant start, taking 4 wickets in just 1 match with a stunning average of 6.00 and an economy of 8.00. As the IPL 2025 progresses, the competition among these bowlers is expected to intensify, making the Purple Cap race even more exciting.
