In the 42nd match of IPL 2025, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 11 runs. The game took a dramatic turn in the final two overs when RR, who seemed to be cruising towards victory, lost control. Playing at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, RCB posted a solid total of 205/5 and then restricted RR to 194/9.

RCB’s star batter Virat Kohli played a brilliant half-century knock. He scored 70 runs off 42 balls, smashing 8 fours and 2 sixes. This performance significantly boosted his position in the Orange Cap race. Kohli surpassed Nicholas Pooran (377), Suryakumar Yadav (373), and Jos Buttler (356) to move from eighth place to second.

Kohli is now just 26 runs behind the current Orange Cap holder, Gujarat Titans’ (GT) opener Sai Sudharsan. Kohli has scored 392 runs in 9 matches at an average of 65.33, including five fifties. Sudharsan, on the other hand, has made 417 runs in 8 matches at an average of 52.12.

Yashasvi Jaiswal from RR also jumped four spots to reach joint fifth in the Orange Cap list. He has scored 356 runs in 9 matches at an average of 39.55. In the match against RCB, he smashed a quickfire 49 off just 19 balls, including 7 fours and 3 sixes.
