Bharat was born in Visakhapatnam on 3 October 1993. Having attended St. Aloysius High School, K S Bharat earned his BCom degree from Dr. Lankapalli Bullayya College. His cricket journey commenced early, joining the Andhra Ranji Trophy squad at the tender age of 11.
Notably, Bharat served as a ball boy during the India-Pakistan ODI match in Visakhapatnam in 2005. His wicket-keeping skills took root at the age of 19.
KS Bharat Career
In November 2019, Bharat joined India’s Test squad for the second Test against Bangladesh, covering for Wriddhiman Saha. In January 2020, he was drafted into the ODI squad against Australia due to Rishabh Pant’s concussion.
Come January 2021, Bharat found himself among the standby players in India’s Test squad against England. Fast forward to May 2021, he was called up again, this time as cover for Wriddhiman Saha in the Test series against England.
November 2021 marked Bharat’s presence in the first Test against New Zealand, stepping in for the injured Wriddhiman Saha. He showcased his skills by keeping wicket, taking 2 catches, and executing a stumping to dismiss Tom Latham for 95 off Axar Patel’s delivery.
In February 2022, Bharat secured a spot in India’s Test squad for the series against Sri Lanka. His inclusion continued in May 2022, featuring in the rescheduled fifth Test against England.
On February 9, 2023, Bharat marked his Test debut against Australia at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur. He is in the squad announced for the Test Series against England which is scheduled to start on 25 January 2024.
