Naseem Shah is from Mayar Jandool, a town in the Lower Dir district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan. His father, Mr. Shah, initially opposed his choice to pursue cricket, preferring him to focus on his studies. Naseem completed his education up to the tenth grade, after which his father wanted him to find work overseas. Sadly, his mother, Mrs. Shah, passed away in 2019, just a day before his Test debut at the age of 16.

Naseem Shah has a large family, including two sisters and four brothers. One of his brothers, Hunain Shah, is a fast bowler who competes at the first-class level. His youngest brother, Ubaid Shah, is also a fast bowler, having made his Under-19 debut in October 2023 and subsequently being selected for the Under-19 Asia Cup in December 2023.
Career & Personal Life
Naseem Shah started his cricket journey playing tape ball cricket in Lower Dir. At the age of 13, he joined the Abdul Qadir Cricket Academy in Lahore, where he was coached by Sulaman Qadir. He was then selected for the Lahore Under-16 team and later for the Pakistan Under-16 team.
In his domestic career, Naseem made his first-class debut for Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited in September 2018 and his List A debut in October 2018. He later joined Central Punjab’s squad for the 2019–20 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and made his Twenty20 debut in October 2019.
In franchise cricket, Naseem played for Quetta Gladiators from 2019 to 2023 in the Pakistan Super League before joining Islamabad United. He also played in other leagues, including the Caribbean Premier League and The Hundred.
Internationally, Naseem was named in Pakistan’s Test squad in 2019, making his debut against Australia. He impressed with his bowling, becoming the youngest fast bowler to take a five-wicket haul in Test cricket. He also made history by taking a hat-trick in a Test match against Bangladesh.
Naseem has continued to shine in international cricket, representing Pakistan in various formats. He made his ODI debut against the Netherlands in August 2022 and his T20I debut against India later that month. He played a crucial role in helping Pakistan qualify for the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Final.
