Ravichandran Ashwin made the challenging decision of selecting his all-time IPL XI, notably excluding some big names like Chris Gayle, Hardik Pandya, and Kieron Pollard. His squad features two former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) teammates and four Mumbai Indians (MI) stars.
Speaking on Kris Srikkanth’s YouTube channel, Ashwin revealed his picks for the ultimate IPL team, which saw the omission of both Chris Gayle and David Warner. Instead, he chose Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for the opening slots. Suresh Raina, known for his key role in CSK’s four IPL victories, was picked for the number three spot, while Suryakumar Yadav, the current T20I captain, occupied the fourth position. AB de Villiers, a legend for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), rounded out the middle order.
MS Dhoni was selected as captain and wicketkeeper. For the all-rounder position, Ashwin went with spin all-rounders Sunil Narine and Rashid Khan, leaving out prominent names like Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, and Shane Watson.
