Five-time champions Mumbai Indians have included Afghanistan’s off-spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman in the squad as a replacement for injured Allah Ghazanfar. Ghazanfar has been ruled out of IPL 2025 due to an injury. The 18-year-old suffered a fracture and will also miss the upcoming Champions Trophy.
Ghazanfar sustained the injury during Afghanistan’s recent tour of Zimbabwe. Mumbai Indians had signed the emerging 18-year-old off-spinner for ₹4.80 crore in the IPL mega auction. In an official statement, MI said, “Mumbai Indians wish Ghazanfar a speedy recovery and warmly welcome Mujeeb to the family.”

Mujeeb is one of the youngest players to represent Afghanistan and made an immediate impact in international cricket. He made his IPL debut at the age of 17 and is well-known as a mystery spinner.
Mujeeb has played over 250 T20 matches, taking more than 270 wickets at an economy rate of around 6.5. In the IPL, he has been a part of Kolkata Knight Riders, Kings XI Punjab, and Sunrisers Hyderabad. He has also represented Afghanistan in 75 ODIs, 49 T20Is, and one Test match. Mujeeb has taken one wicket in Tests, 101 wickets in ODIs, and 63 wickets in T20Is. Overall, he has 275 wickets in 256 T20 matches. In the IPL, he has taken 19 wickets in 19 matches.
