After winning the T20 World Cup, the Indian team has finally arrived back in India. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had arranged a special flight for Rohit Sharma’s team and media personnel to return home. Air India’s flight AIC24WC (Air India Champions 24 World Cup) landed in India this morning.
It is noteworthy that Rohit Sharma-led team, his support staff, some BCCI officials, and families of players were stranded in Barbados due to Tropical Storm Beryl. The team had clinched the title by defeating South Africa by seven runs in the final on Saturday. Since then, the team had been staying in their hotel there.
Team India Returns Home; Road Show in the Evening
After winning the final match, the Indian team was supposed to return to India on regular flights, but due to the situation of curfew in Barbados caused by the cyclonic storm, all flights were canceled, and players and staff were stranded in their hotels. Subsequently, a special plane was dispatched by the government to Barbados to bring them back.
Fans gathered outside Delhi Airport to welcome the Indian team. A large number of people arrived to welcome Rohit Sharma’s team. Their 17-year wait came to an end today. India had previously won the T20 World Cup under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni in 2007.

According to BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla, the Indian team will arrive in Delhi at six o’clock in the morning. After that, they will meet the Prime Minister at 11 o’clock in the morning. Later, Rohit Sharma and the company will depart for Mumbai via a special plane. A victory parade will be organized in their honor at the Wankhede Stadium. Additionally, it was announced that a prize of 125 crore rupees will be awarded to the Indian team by the BCCI.
