The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to suspend the remaining matches of the ongoing IPL 2025 season for one week with immediate effect. This decision comes after a thorough assessment of the current situation in consultation with relevant authorities and stakeholders. The updated schedule and revised venues for the tournament will be announced in due course.
The decision was taken by the IPL Governing Council after most franchises expressed concerns on behalf of their players, and after considering the sentiments of broadcasters, sponsors, and fans. While the BCCI has full faith in the strength and preparedness of our armed forces, the Board felt it appropriate to act in the collective interest of all stakeholders.
At this critical juncture, the BCCI stands firmly with the nation. We express our solidarity with the Government of India, the armed forces, and the people of the country. The Board salutes the bravery, courage, and selfless service of our soldiers, whose valiant efforts under “Operation Sindoor” inspire the nation as they respond firmly to the recent terrorist attacks and unprovoked aggression by Pakistan’s armed forces.
While cricket remains a national passion, nothing is above the sovereignty, integrity, and security of our country. The BCCI is firmly committed to supporting all efforts to safeguard the nation and will continue to take all decisions in the best interest of the country.
