On Tuesday, South Africa named a 15-member squad for the World Test Championship (WTC) Final to be played at Lord’s. The South African selectors have appointed Temba Bavuma as the captain for the final clash against Australia.
The squad sees two changes from the team that played the Test series against Pakistan. Quinton Mafaka and Matthew Breetzke have been left out, while the rest of the players have retained their spots.
Lungi Ngidi makes a return to the squad after recovering from injury, which adds more strength and pace to the bowling attack. At the top of the batting order, Tony de Zorzi, Ryan Rickelton, and Aiden Markram are likely to feature, while rising stars Tristan Stubbs, David Bedingham, and captain Temba Bavuma will form the middle-order core. Kyle Verreynne will take charge behind the stumps.
In the bowling department, Wiaan Mulder and Marco Jansen bring all-round capabilities, while the pace attack will be led by Kagiso Rabada, Ngidi, Dane Paterson, and Corbin Bosch. The spin department includes Keshav Maharaj and Senuran Muthusamy.

South Africa’s head coach, Shukri Conrad, expressed confidence in the squad, saying that the team is well-prepared for English conditions and has a good balance of youth and experience.
Conrad said, “First of all, I would like to congratulate each player selected for this squad. Playing in the WTC Final is a special moment for this group. Over the past 18 months, we’ve worked hard to build a competitive red-ball team, and this achievement reflects our progress.”
